Architecture Project Reflection

Learning Outcome (What I've learnt)

From the topic (Architecture Design)

- Simple architectures in our lives are not made simply. Every architecture was designed and build under
meticulous thoughts and efforts by architect. For a building as simple as a housing estate, the architect has to take into consideration of many things like height that the building can go up to, features of the building, the condition of the soil which the building is to be build on, even flow of traffic in the surrounding, and etc.

-Other than the exterior of the architecture which already requires plenty of effort, the interior, or in other words the planning of space is even more tedious. Due to space limitation, the architect will have to effectively plan how the interior looks like. Eg, how should the tables and chairs be arranged, where certain furnitures must be placed and even how to create certain ambience inside the building.

From this project

-To determine what sort of building should be built on a certain piece of land/space, an important factor to consider is the surrounding. Extensive research has to be done to know about existing facilities in the surrounding, and what building best benefits the environment. And such extensive research has to be done over a long time.

-Chain of thoughts is a very important aspect of any project especially this. One must be able to link together different piece of important information to know exactly what should be done at certain points and only then work can be carried out smoothly. If the chain of thoughts is broken, it will be hard to carry out the project coherently resulting in broken pieces of information and futile progress.

Go Green, Chill In Project.

The building serves to connect people with the great nature. The building is actually a restaurant redesigned from the existing train track. How it connects people with the building is through dining in close distance to the green, experiencing the view, listening to the nature's call and inhaling the smell of nature's identity. The dinning area will be an open space, with no real shelter except a thin piece of veil hanging above to keep out impurities and other insects from invading the dinning area from above.

The concept behind the design is to help biodiversity maintain or even strives alongside the architect without interference. The building is also self-sustainable as it will be naturally cooling due to the surroundings without the need to create artificial experiences to mimic nature's call. This building will not damage nature but strive along it.

What is architectural design

Architectural Design

Architecture design refers to the actual design and layout of spaces. Architecture encompasses many different elements including construction, design, and the manipulation of light as it relates to shadow. Throughout history, architects have found ways to create functional and practical spaces using any materials that were available.

Originally, architecture emerged from necessity. Since ancient cultures needed a way to worship revered religious deities, early Egyptian and Mesopotamian architecture directly reflected the relationship between people and ancient religions. Most buildings constructed during the reign of these empires were meant to pay homage to the heavens. While "architects" as we know them did not exist during the construction of these buildings, the idea behind creating impressive and functional spaces was present.

Urban design refers to how public space is created and used in cities and towns. Urban designers work to create the best way of using city space for the usability and enjoyment of all residents. They plan designs for residential, business, industrial and recreation areas with present public needs as well as projected growth in mind. Urban design can make a big difference in how people use public space.

Today's architects must consider form, texture, structure, space, mass, materials, and costs before designing any building or space

Architecture
usually tries to achieve some sort of design balance, whether asymmetrical or symmetrical. Architecture must take into account of certain laws or theories as relating to how humans perceive.

Criteria of Good Architectural Design

Appealing - It must be attractive or interesting

Sustainable - It must be able to be maintained at a certain rate or level of standard

Functional - It must be able to serve its purpose

Adaptability - It must be able to adjust to new conditions

Practical - It must be suitable for a particular purpose
